Manifesting the life of your dreams
Of recent, I started thinking about the concept of manifesting the life you want. You kno w, thinking about what you want to get in life so much that you begin to get what you want from life? Yes, that one. And I think it’s pretty straightforward; life isn’t, but this is black and white. You do this again and again and you get a result. It might take a while, but the manifestation comes to pass.
Psychology calls it psychological literature. That is, tricking your psyche to believe something exists when it doesn’t. Say you’re relaxing at home and your friend asks if you both can hang out. The moment you say: “Oh, I can’t hang out. I’m tired,” you begin to yawn and feel tired. It’s almost automatic.
It doesn’t work immediately for positive affirmation, but if you tell yourself over and over that you’re amazing and that you’ve got whatever life throws at you, eventually you begin to get it. You begin to be amazing all round and dazzle everyone you come in contact with.
In May, I started a journey I called “Body Love.” It required me to make a video of myself every day, naked, highlighting what I love about my body and reminding myself in the video how much I love those things about myself. The first day, I felt weird. I mean, staring at yourself naked when all you’ve done your whole life is hate your looks? It’s bound to be weird.
By day two I still thought it was weird, but I had already resigned my fate to staring at my naked body that I didn’t mind. By day ten, I already believed I had a good body stature and it made me feel confident in whatever I put on. And as we all know, confidence is the best accessory to wear.
So, manifestation. Manifestation is simply envisioning the life you want and working towards it, in thoughts and in deeds. It requires active and positive participation. This could be you deciding that you can crush whatever challenge your boss sets for you at working and actively working to make sure you’re prepared to crush that challenge.
Manifestation can also involve you reminding yourself of all the ways you’ve got this. Even when it doesn’t feel like it. ESPECIALLY when it doesn’t feel like it. Oh, having a tough time with life? You’ve got this. Your boss is putting you under so much pressure and you think you would not be able to deliver excellently? You’ve got this. Eventually, you begin to feel like you’ve got it, and that decreases the fear you feel, allowing you to express your full potential.
But. While manifestation requires envisioning what you hope to be or achieve, it doesn’t mean you should shy away from asking for help when you need it. Instead of making us small and vulnerable, asking for help makes us big and strong. It means we understand that life is meant to be lived with each other helping ourselves.
Today, as you walk into a new week, remember to affirm all that you hope to become/achieve for this week and the rest of your life. If possible, put it on your daily to-do list: “Practice positive affirmation.” It works, guys.
So, cheers to living the life of your dreams! 🥂
