You are the journey
I was going to whip something up real quick. Like go through my notes and decide which of my writings I want to put out today because honestly I have never felt more detached from my feelings than I do right now. I have a lot to say but there’s this constant nagging voice that asks “Do they want to hear it?” Damn, I am especially scared of oversharing. Of getting too deep in my feelings that I forget there are some things that should never see the light of the day.
Except you turn it into a story and tag it as “fiction.” Haha. Isn’t that what most writers do? But a smart person knows that every poem, story or drama is a sum of the writer’s worlds. You can know all there is to know about a writer from their works, but the mystery is so deep, such that you will never fully know them. You think you do but they surprise you everytime.
I just want to say that the beautiful thing about your life is your journey. Yes, the destination matters, but not as much as the journey. Not as much as the experience you get while on your way to your destination. You have the power to decide how great you want that journey to be. You want to whine all the way? By all means, do. You want to take charge of your life and decide that you have all it takes to be everything you want to be? By all means, do.
But.
Never ever act like a victim. You’re not a victim; you never were. You are one person who has as much control of their lives as anyone else. You can decide what you want to make out of your life. And if you want to spend the rest of your life writing sad poems/stories and tagging them “fiction" like me (haha), please do. The world needs people who can feel. People who can express the pain others feel through art (writing, painting, dancing, film. Name it).
So if it gets real difficult for you today, rest. Take a break and try again tomorrow. Do something fun. Something you love. Do anything, but never ever give up on yourself. Ever. You are the journey and the destination, and you’re definitely worth it.
